I'm sure most of you know I'm completely enamoured with musicals, so much so that I want to study Musical Theatre next year. There is indeed a list in the back of my mind of all the dream roles I can only hope to play one day. At the very top of that list is Rose from the musical Gypsy. Lo and behold I was scrolling through the Life archives yesterday and came across these photos of Gypsy Rose Lee who they based the musical on. Now Gypsy Rose is the famous burlesque performer who is the daughter of Rose, the epitome of the pushy stage mom. It really is musical heaven!
I recommend you all get yourselves a copy of the 1993 film version where Bette Midler plays Rose and possibly out shines every person that will ever attempt that role.
How are you lovelies doing this Friday? It's a five day weekend here in South Africa (absolute bliss) and so I started my mini holiday off by giving the blog a makeover, hope you all like it!
Happy Freedom Day to all the fellow South Africans! It's 18 years of democracy today which means that I was indeed a freedom baby. Well, I was alive for a month and 17 days of Apartheid if we're getting specific. Anyway, onto the collection of random stuff!
I've never hid my love for Blooming Leopold on this wee blog. I'm sure you'll find a few posts about them in the archives.
I often tell myself not to post too much about the same thing but when they bring out a lookbook like this how could I not. This Spring/Summer collection has to be my favourite so far. The muted colours are just right up my alley and the whole feel of the photos just makes me want to go on holiday to somewhere in the middle of nowhere with tall trees and a little stream. Yup.
The lookbook was shot by the talented duo of Kate and Amanda.
The bridesmaid's dresses, the bunting, the bowties, the boat shed! Can a wedding get better than this?
The fact that the reception was held in a boat shed and guests could sit on hay bales while they watched the sun set just has me tickled pink! This is possibly the most adorable wedding I've seen!
Some animal loving to start of the week via Oli Poli.
Life is just crazy at the moment, it's less than three weeks till opening night of a Cabaret that I'm in and then a week after that I start my mid-year exams! I'm just trying to think through all the commotion in my head but I know I'll get through it, hang in there lovelies!
I often find different things around the interwebs that are truly awesome but I wouldn't be able to make an entire post centred around them so I've decided that instead of letting them go to waste I'll just pile them all together into a mish-mashed post of goodness. I know a lot of blogs already do similar things but what the heck!
