Lyell
Browsing through Spring Summer lookbooks of 2010 'cause where I am in the world we're being bombarded by sunshine and beautiful Summer weather. Paging through all the Streetstyle blogs with their beautiful girls wrapped up in coats and boots was confusing my body a bit too much. Lyell is definitely one of the prettiest boutique's I've come across, courtesy of Clever Nettle.
The blog might be a little slow over the next few days as my mind is still firmly in the silly season and I have to get ready for the arrival of family in a few days time. My stepsister, her husband and their two young children are coming out from the Netherlands to spend a few weeks with us down here. Crossing fingers that all goes well with their flight.

A day late
I hope you all had a wonderful day with family and friends. I think I've eaten enough to keep me going through 2011.

Maude Fealy
Fealy (1881 - 1971) was a star of the Edwardian stage and silent films. She had a tempestuous love life that included several marriages and a lesbian affair. Whilst taking the photo of her holding a cross she is quoted to have said, "We'll baffle them, I warrant. What shall it be? I'll go as a nun."

kitty cat confession
I've always thought of myself as a dog person and can go through stages where I have to stop myself from making every second post about my furry friends. I think this could be 'cause I haven't had cute kitty in my life for a while now.
Last year, this time, my twenty-year-old cat, Whiskers, passed away. He was the best friend ever, not scary like the other cats who always dug their claws into me. My parents had Whiskers long before I came into existence and he was a big part of my childhood.
Anyway, the moral of this long story is that I feel like getting a kitty. Maybe I'll talk to my dad and see what I can do (:

flickr faves friday
The last two photo's are because I can't decide whether I like the South African Summer Christmas or the traditional White Christmas & the first image is 'cause well, those nuns are cool.

TEST
I came across these images at the beginning of the year on various blogs but I was never able to locate their original source. I've found that they are from TEST magazine's editorial entitled Sweet and Lowdown. Be sure to take a peek at the rest of the photo's.

Jason Wu
The majority of the pieces in Jason Wu's pre Fall 2011 collection I'm rather sure I wouldn't have the guts to ever wear. However these three pieces might come in handy if I were going to some fairytale ball you all failed to tell me of or if I were the editor of a famous fashion magazine.
Nonetheless, these clothes are gorgeous.

Francois Visser is a local Capetonian artist with an impeccable eye for black & white photography.
I've got a shoot later this afternoon working with my first ever male model. Initially I was a bit reluctant but the challenge of working with a male model & still making photo's I liked won me over in the end. I hope, oh I really hope I get some good shots.

Saja wedding dresses
Now, I'm not planning on getting married anytime soon & I do try to refrain from posting wedding related gobble-dee-goop on here but this time there was no holding me back.
There dresses are beautiful and understated, everything that makes a wedding dress perfect in my eyes. Visit their store to see some more lovely designs.
My perfect wedding dress would be the L'amour design & I'd love to be able to wear the Joe Pye design to my Matric Dance in a year and a bit.
my summer goals
Today is the last day of school for the year. I now have a month of Summer sunshine ahead of me but I'm determined this year to not completely waste it away. Here is my list of things to keep me occupied.
1. Take lots of photo's.
Simple enough, preferably film photo's.
2. Get outside.
Hike, swim, picnic, walk the dogs. I'm going to make sure I have a hefty amount of fresh air these holidays. This one also includes a bit more exercise than normal so to ease the guilt of eating all those extra chocolates which I'm not going to deny myself of.
3. Make money.
I haven't figured out how yet but I'm going to have to if I want the first goal to work.
4. Read, read, read.
I've already bought two new books and have a sneaky suspicion Santa's giving me four more so I'm gonna have to get cracking.
5. Socialize.
I find it too easy to just hibernate by myself & have a little bit too much me time every now and then so making sure I get out to see my friends and have a good giggle is quite important.

questions and answers
Laura of See Hear Say has awarded me with the 'I love your blog prize'. I'm incredibly flattered, thank you so much Laura.
the rules of the prize are:
- do an entry with the prize.
- answer the questions.
- give the prize to 10 blogs.
1. why did you create the blog?
I came across the Drifter and the Gypsy one day & just thought it to be the most beautiful site I'd ever seen. I slowly started noticing blogs and what they were and eventually decided I wanted a part of this world.
2. what kind of blogs do you follow?
Originally I would just follow any blog and every blog but I've come to like more unique blogs that don't look exactly like the one before and blogs where people aren't afraid to voice their own opinion and show everyone their personality.
3. favorite makeup brand?
I don't really have one, actually.
4. favorite clothing brand?
I'm not a clothing brand person, if my entire wardrobe was thrifted I'd be over the moon.
5. your indispensable makeup product:
I'm not really a makeup person but I think I'd say powder base as a good backdrop will always leave you looking pretty.
6. your favorite color:
Light blue, peach, white, I'm not too sure.
7. your perfume:
Sadly, I don't wear perfume.
8. your favorite film:
Anything based in 19th Century England I'm sure I'd enjoy. & Any quirky teenage film with Michael Cera would be good. Pride and Prejudice & Juno(:
9. what country would you like to visit and why?
Spain, without a doubt Spain. Especially Barcelona. I haven't figured out why exactly yet I just know I should go there and maybe even live there. I better start learning Spanish soon.
10. make the last question and answer to yourself: Your career?
Well, I don't exactly have one yet but there are so many options. I'd love to do something combining photography, music, fashion, design, history & writing. Anybody got ideas?
I'm giving this award to;

four at a time
These photos by Kid Curry are taken with film on a camera that takes four pictures in less than a second. I love the feeling they have, especially the first one. It is kind of how I feel about Summer put into a picture.
