Loose Leaf

I'm sure I've mentioned before that in another life I'd love to be a florist. There's something soothing about working with plants. Loose Leaf is a magical new floral studio / plant store that's opened in Melbourne. It's unlike any other florists shop I've seen.

Each from varied backgrounds but connected by a passion for plants, Wona and Charlie are inspired by the therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature.

Overgrowth

Still confused as to how I didn't know this existed. Parker Fitzgerald and Riley Messina teaming up to cover people's faces with flowers, yes please. Find more Overgrowth prints here.

Inspired by a pursuit of beauty, Riley combines classically thoughtful botanical designs with Parker's carefully considered film images in an expression of the multifaceted relationship between humankind and nature. The two artists contrast anonymous portraiture with sweeping landscapes in an attempt to capture both the malleable and untamed aspects of the natural world.

Miles of Light

It's always been a dream to fill my surroundings with botanical prints but now I've found a new love, botanical photography. All these photos are crisp and clean and I feel like they'd make a room feel extremely calming, but not in a zen way. For some reason I really am not one for the zen vibe.

Flowers Galore

I haven't featured a wedding in a long while and once I came across this ceremony and reception dripping in flowers I knew I had to share. The bride was inspired by A Flower Wedding by Walter Crane and it definitely shows. I think I'm going to have to get myself a copy of that now, and not because of the wedding aspect but because it's a cloth bound book originally published in 1905 and it's filled with illustrations of flower arrangements!

Aside from the flowers, the wedding also had some fantastic vintage pieces. The best one has to be the dress; adorned with vintage lace and embroidery and a teeny tiny peplum.

peonies

In an ideal world I'd love to spend Saturday and Sunday mornings in the garden pottering around like the true old lady that I am. It never seems to happen though as I'm either working, sleeping or just too darn lazy but I thought in an attempt to motivate myself and maybe a few others I'd share some pictures from Kinfolk's tips for growing peonies. Peonies are so difficult to find here in South Africa so I think the next best thing is for me to attempt growing them myself.









PS It's bucketing with rain this morning so as much as I want to, I think my gardening shall be starting next weekend. It's time for some tea and Mad Men, enjoy your weekend everyone!

herb drying

A few weeks back I shared the first ever collaboration between Amy Merrick and Parker Fitzgerald and these two are just so good I had to share one of their more recent collabs, herb drying. The pictures feature Ms Julie Pointer who seems to be popping up in a lot of great photo spreads lately!
