Marli

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

I'm not usually emotionally attached to movies but any mention of Moonrise Kingdom and I become hyper aware of all these thoughts that whirl around my brain. I know it's not the greatest movie out there and it certainly isn't Wes Anderson's best work but it was the film that got me motivated to watch all of his other movies and I'll always be happy about that. It was also the movie Jean and I went to see on our first offical 'date' so if we're being honest I'm certain that's the real reason it has me all emotions.

Anyways, as soon as I saw this shoot by Vanessa Jackman I was enthralled and lo and behold it was inspired by none other than Moonrise Kingdom.

road trip

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

So jealous of the road trip Miss Moss took recently from Durban to Cape Town. Sometimes we're so obsessed with faraway places that we forget how beautiful our own backyard is. Find out more about the camera she used and the places she visited here.

We Children of the Zoo

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

So often a picture will blow up on pinterest or tumblr and everybody loves it but nobody really knows where it came from, who photographed it or if there were other photographs to go with it.

I felt like I'd uncovered gold when I came across Michal Pudelka's editorial, We Children of the Zoo. As it turns out, I'd already seen a few of these photos but it was great to put them together and know who had created them (only about a year after they were so popular, oops). I'm sure lots of you have seen this editorial in its entirety before but I thought I'd share my discovery anyway, maybe there are some out there that are severely late to the game like me.

Tomorrow is Forever

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

Amber Byrne Mahoney is fast becoming one of my favourite photographers. She's definitely someone whose site I inecessantly visit for inspiration. This editorial for Pony Anarchy Magazine is (literally) a darker version of the typical girl-frolicking-in-the-flowers photoshoot and I love it.

Freewheeling

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

I'm in a bit of a rut at the moment. I want so badly to get in a car and drive far away and explore something, anything in this short time I have off from varsity but at the same time all I want to do is spend large portions of my day in bed, reading and drinking tea. It's really not that bad a life I'm living if these are the decisions I have to make, I must say.

What got me on this topic was the deep pang of nostalgia I felt for travelling when I saw these photos on Rookie. I don't know if I could just get up and go with only a bicycle in tow but I'm seriously impressed that these two managed to do just that.

These photos were taken on a bike trip through the Australian bush. In two weeks, my friend Nat and I covered nearly 200 miles and watched the landscape change as we loosely followed a long, wide, and winding river. We stopped early in the afternoon each day to collect firewood, bathe in the river, and cook by the fire. We crossed at least seven state borders and got at least eight flat tires, and I didn’t cry even once.
