studio tour

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

Last week I shared tote bags from Zana with you all and yesterday I saw on their facebook page that they've released a little tour of their studio. Oh how I'd love to work in a space like this! It's the perfect mixture of crisp, white cleanliness and bright colour to keep you wide awake when burning the midnight oil.

The space was designed by Melissa Louise and photographed by Lindie Meyer.

hello there handsome

Zana has got to be my favourite online store run from Cape Town. This mother-daughter team create the most magical cushions and totes as well as a few other textile wonders using the best quality fabrics. I'm thinking I might need to get myself a crazy cat lady tote.

The Polki Crew

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

Black Betty is a local range of jewelry inspired by Kristin Weixelbaumer's travels through India and her love for stones and gems. I was especially taken by her Polki diamonds.

Diamond cutting changes a rough diamond into a chiseled angular stone. Since Polki Diamonds are basically uncut, they have far less fire or brilliance when compared to chiseled diamonds. Their beauty is subtle. These diamonds are mined from the earth and retained in their natural form with virtually no modification. Raw and virtually uncut.

CY Market

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

On Thursday morning I headed through to CY Market, an annual gifts and decor market out in the Northern suburbs. It's held on a working farm and all the stalls are housed in old, refurbished milking sheds. It was a great morning and I did actually end up finding some Christmas presents.

It's so surreal that the Christmas gift fairs are starting to pop up already, it's almost Summer time! Have a great weekend all!

Katrin

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

I love finding local creatives whose work I truly adore. Katrin Coetzer is an illustrator and a designer with the most adorable (I mean that in the best way) portfolio. Her art has been featured in children's books, magazines, posters etc. She also takes rad photos and her husband runs one of the coolest shops around, Good Heavens.

Made in the Cape

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

This past weekend I visited Made in the Cape, a monthly artisan goods showcase held at Cavendish Square. I've blogged about them before, almost an entire year ago. It's crazy how the time flies! My favourite thing about this market is that everything is made, by hand, in the Western Cape. I'm much happier supporting local artisans than I am supporting China.

Jane Sews S/S 13

Photo of a big bunny rabbit!

If you read my post from earlier today you'll know that I'm seriously missing the summer sunshine right now and so coming across the new Jane Sews collection felt a bit like rubbing salt in the wound.  Look at all this prettiness that you can't have!

This local label is definitely one of my favourites and the simple, feminine and tailored looks from it's Spring/Summer 2013 collection are just right. It's sadly not often that a South African brand gets it spot on like this and I'm feeling pretty proud right now.
