Birds of Eden

This time last week I said I'd be bringing you a few photos from my holiday in a day or two. Well, that day or two turned into a week but nevertheless the photos are finally here.

Sunday before last my family visited Birds of Eden (it's just outside of Plett for those local readers) and my oh my was it the most amazing experience.

Birds of Eden is the world's largest free flight bird sanctuary. The dome is 50 metres high and covers 23 000 square meters of forest. There is a 2km long boardwalk that guides you through the trees. As I said in this tweet it was like spending a morning in a tropical wonderland that was mildly covered in bird poop.

As you can tell from the lack of birds in these pictures I obviously don't have a future in wildlife photography but don't let that fool you, the place was filled with exotic flying creatures.
