branding the presidents of the united states

My combined love of fonts, typography and history have me in an absolute tizz after finding this tumblr that is entirely dedicated to allocating a typeface to each president of the United States as well as giving them a slogan.

The project is ongoing and as there are 44 presidents it is being played out over 44 days. They're on Ronald Reagan at the moment (aka no. 40) so there are still a few more to be added in the upcoming days.

Lotfi

I don't know about you but these photos make me want to spend forever on a beach with a good book. Ah, I can't wait for Summer!

The clothes are by San Francisco based company, Lotfi. The owner, Sharareh, designs each print. Her love of illustrations, watercolor drawings and visual story telling led her to explore the possibility of creating her own fabrics and thus founding Lotfi in 2011.

Afraid of Mice

I think Cape Town is the best city in the world. I know I may be a little bias and I also haven't traveled that much so I have almost nothing to compare it to but still, I'm going to stand firm in my love for the Mother City.

Case in point: this boutique on Long St called Afraid of Mice.

Ursa Minor

I get so frazzled with the change in seasons because as soon as we Southern Hemisphere dwellers start heading into Summer all the Northern clothing lines bring out their Winter collections and basically I want to wear all of it but I have to wait a whole season before I can. It's a hard life I lead.

This little outburst was brought on by the latest collection from Ursa Minor and I mean can you blame me for being drawn in by the slightly dark and mystical atmosphere of their campaign photos? No. No you can't.

Messy Bun Studies

I remember coming across these drawings on tumblr last year and not for the life of me being able to find the right source and then yesterday the lovely Jennifer posted them to her pinterest with the correct source in tow and I was finally able to find out a little more about the exquisitely executed messy hair.

The images were drawn by  Ian Thomas, a freelance illustrator who studied Graphic Design in North Carolina. Here's what he has to say about his messy bun studies:

In the context of lecture classes, there's only so much one can draw from life. The subject I thought most interesting, and found had the greatest variety, was my classmates' messy hair buns. This is a series of ink illustrations inspired by the drawings originally done in the margins of notes, like so much of my work.

A little peek into the home of Vienna native, Verena Stummer. I'm entranced by her apartment and how it so incandescently displays her personality. By looking through the pictures of her place you can tell she has a penchant for flowers, color, vintage finds and food. A girl after my own heart!

Exams are over (for now) and I've got this overwhelming feeling of wanderlust. I came across this flickr and in mere months their photos span the continents, going from places like Tokyo to Stockholm to Portland and really can't I do that and just see the world and everything inbetween?
